Lazy Leadership
Inspired by on Lenny's Podcast
A CEO calls himself a 'lazy leader' whose goal is to get away from things he hates as fast as possible - which is a surprisingly healthy approach to the parts of parenting that drain you.
Andrew Wilkinson has a management philosophy.
'I really try and lean into what I call lazy leadership, which is how do I get away from the things I hate as quickly as humanly possible? How do I be Teflon for tasks?'
This sounds terrible for parenting. You can't outsource bedtime.
But actually? It's wisdom.
Identify what drains you most. Is it the morning routine? The witching hour? The endless snack requests?
Now: how can you get help with those specific things? A partner takeover? A babysitter for that window? A simpler routine that requires less from you?
You can't outsource everything. But you can be strategic about where you spend your finite patience.
'If the business can get big enough where you can have employees, you can just focus on sales or whatever aspect that you really love.'
Parenting translation: get support for the draining parts, so you have energy for the parts that matter.
Be Teflon for tasks that don't require you specifically.
