A CPO says her biggest unlock was getting crystal clear on exactly three customer personas - because 'the ability to say no is going to allow you to build something amazing for the people that matter, not something average for everyone.'

Annie Pearl transformed Calendly by making one decision: defining exactly who they build for.

'The idea of saying no is scary. When in reality, the ability to say no is going to allow you to make sure you're building something that's going to be amazing for the people that matter most and not something that's going to be average or okay for a lot of different people.'

This is the parent trying to do it all.

You can't do Montessori and strict schedules and child-led learning and structured activities and screen-free and educational tablets. You can't be gentle and strict and playful and serious.

Pick your approach. Go deep.

'Most companies believe that they have clarity around this. But then when you go down into the weeds, I don't know that it's always as clear because there's always a hesitation to say no.'

Saying no to the things that don't fit allows you to go all-in on the things that do.

Average everything or amazing something. Choose.
