More Tools Isn't More Better

Buying another parenting book doesn't make you a better parent. Sometimes the app-free, screen-free, gadget-free approach just works better.
Kunal Shah makes a point that seems obvious but isn't: "Making everything tech does not make things more efficient."
He uses the example of buying a suit online versus in person. All the technology, all the features, all the conveniences - and the end result is worse than just going to a store.
The parenting equivalent: the sleep tracking app that makes you more anxious. The meal planning software that takes longer than just deciding what to cook. The behavior chart that requires more enforcement than the behavior itself. The co-parenting coordination app that creates more conflict than a shared calendar.
Sometimes the analog solution - the boring, low-tech, unsexy approach - is just better. A paper checklist. A conversation. Walking over instead of texting.
Not every problem needs an app. Not every routine needs optimization. Sometimes the upgrade is realizing you don't need an upgrade.

“Making everything tech does not make things more efficient... Buying a suit for yourself online versus offline, all tech, cool stuff, all the features built in. What would you say the efficiency of buying a suit online is versus buying a suit offline?”Kunal Shah · 00:08:19
